Activation and Trial limitations
Trial limitations
There is no difference in functionality between the trial version and the fully licensed product.
After the installation the product is available as a trial version for 30 days.
During this time, the sample Vault ERP Integration can also be tested against our Demo ERP and all your test data will be retained.
Activation
The license must be activated on every workstation and on every Job Processor where powerGate has been installed.
Follow these simple steps to activate powerGate on completely new computers, together with all other products included in your subscription:
After successful activation, all these products can be used on the computer until your licences expire.
Note
If an Internet connection is available, no further activation steps are necessary from now on:
neither after the annual licence renewal nor after unlocking additional products in your subscription.
As your subscription allows it, you can also activate additional Vault workstations - or other Job Processors - with your customer key.
Other methods of activation using a serial number
The classic way to activate powerGate is by using a serial number.
Use this activation method, for example, if there is no internet connection or if you want to activate an older powerGate version (v22 - v24).
Further details can be found in the second section on activations via serial numbers “For products with version 20.x - 24.x”.
To register the serial number for this product, the powerGate specific License Information dialog is required:
Open it via the Start Menu and navigate to “All Apps → coolOrange → License Manager” and search for “powerGate”.
Then click on the “Trial” link (or on the already displayed serial number).
Alternatively, you can start it via the command line:
"C:\Program Files\coolOrange\Modules\powerGate\License.exe" --Serialnumber="XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX" --StandAlone
Depending on whether you have an internet connection or not, you can register a signed licence file or the serial number:
Register the serial number of powerGate if an internet connection is available.
For an offline activation you need a signed license file.
You can download it from another device using this link: Offline Activation of powerGate. Again you need the serial number of powerGate, as well as the Machine Code which is displayed in the License Information dialog.Note
Please note that after the annual licence renewal this offline activation must be updated on every computer. Further information can be found here.
Are you having problems with the Activation?
To check on a workstation or on the Job Processor whether the products of your subscription are activated, you can open the Licence Manager via the Start Menu by navigating to “All Apps → coolOrange → License Manager”.
For further information about the powerGate license, open the License Information dialog to see the remaining days until the licence expires.
On workstations, the Vault user will see additional notifications about the coolOrange subscription that needs to be renewed, in the last 30 days before this licence expires.
License expired
If the powerGate licence expires, a Windows notification about the expired license is displayed.
The ERP Integration stops working and notifies about the license error within the Connection Error Dialog, BOM Window Error statuses and powerEvents restrictions.
The Connect-ERP cmdlet and the IErpClient.ConnectErp function throw a LicenseException when attempting to connect to an OData server.
Any subsequently executed ERP cmdlets or .NET Library functions will fail and prevent the user and configured automatisms from working with the ERP.
This also applies if the OData service is a powerGateServer.
In this case, all Vault workstations will be informed about the expired powerGateServer license.
